[ to make things easier, i shall be modding this thread by myself. c: ]
None of this was new to him. The boat ride over, the trip to the laboratory - it was not as spectacular as it had been the first time around. To be quite honest, this was Kahale Yonai's second time at a Pok?mon lab, and his third time undergoing the process of becoming a new trainer. The last time around he hadn't visited a lab, but he'd given up everything and returned to square one. But despite that, it was all getting a bit redundant.
Not that he minded, however. This time around he was traveling with his old friend Atticus, whom he'd recently been reunited with. As fate would have it, the duo had ended up back here, in the Kairuu region. He wondered if Professor Hemlock would recognize him. ...No, the young man highly doubted it. The proprietor of the laboratory was very busy man - unless his memory was phenomenal, Kahale doubted that he'd be remembered. Still, the boy couldn't help but wonder what he'd say if he did recall his face... Would he be kicked out of the lab? Well, he did have a good reason for returning, though it certainly was a long story. Ugh, it was troublesome to even think about it. Perhaps all of these worries were solely in his mind - it was meaningless to dwell over it.
It was now that he once again found himself face to face with the front door of the laboratory. The place itself was not difficult to find at all. Among the quaint little buildings that were located within Angler's Wharf, this establishment stuck out like a sore thumb. Apparently he'd either beaten the crowd that had also exited the ferry, or had arrived later. Either way, he was glad he wasn't having to beat his way through a mob.
Kahale glanced over his shoulder out of habit, expecting to see Atticus there. Oh, right. He'd briefly excused himself in order to take this time to swing by the lab. Speaking of which, he hoped his friend would be alright for the few minutes he was gone. Nah, what trouble could be possibly get in during that small amount of time? He could take care of himself. Besides, all Kahale needed to accomplish here to day was the obtainment of an official beginner Pok?mon as well as his trainer kit. After giving his possessions up in the past, the young man assumed he would have to start anew.
"Alright, deep breath. It's not as bad as you're imagining it to be. You've done this twice before, for crying out loud!" Kahale murmured to himself, hoping that this brief pep talk would help calm his nerves. This was really out of character for him! Normally he wouldn't be anxious at all! He wondered what was psyching him out this time around...
"You can totally do this. It'll take ten minutes, tops. Then you can get on with your life. Simple as that," he continued, rubbing his hands together as if he were cold. Kahale didn't understand why he just did that; it was warm enough out here already! "Here goes nothin'.." Raising a fist, he knocked on door. Despite his being nervous, the knock sounded rather confident. Maybe he was just over-reacting.

Damn that hulking beast - he could hardly get any work done when that monster was sleeping! Jacques folded his paws over his sensitive ears, trying to block out the deafening noise that was currently issuing from the sleeping Garchomp's mouth. Unbelievable! If he wasn't so tired himself, why, he would have gladly given that annoying creature a piece of his mind! The jackal-like Pok?mon opened his jaw wide, allowing a whining yawn to escape the confines of his throat.
If anyone should have been sleeping in the laboratory, it should have been him. Lee, in his absence, had entrusted Jacques to he upkeep of the lab. Originally this had only included the completion of paperwork, but somehow he'd also gotten stuck with Feud's responsibilities, which was the cleaning, caring for the baby Pok?mon, and just the overall general maintenance of the laboratory. If Toni and Jigsaw were here, Jacques certainly wouldn't be having this problem! Unfortunately for him, those two were currently with the Professor, and Mordecai and Sniper were exempt from all work for having taken care of the lab the last time Lee was out of town.
This was just awful! Professor Hemlock would certainly be hearing about this when he returned! But perhaps, for just ten minutes, he could lay his head down and -- a sharp knock at the door interrupted his thoughts. "Oh, you've got to be kidding me! I try to relax for one minute, and this is what happens. I swear..." Jacques' sentence trailed off into an incomprehensible jumble of words, a dark scowl having replaced his content expression.
Well, Lee would have his head if he didn't put on a happy face for the current guest. So, without hesitation, the Lucario donned a cheerful face and pushed himself out from his desk chair. Making his way over to the door, Jacques pulled it open in order to greet the person that stood outside. "Welcome, welcome! This is Professor Hemlock's Laboratory, which I'm sure you are already aware of. I'll be filling in for the professor today, as he's currently away on business. ..Now, I'm assuming you're here for a Pok?mon? Grand. Tell me, are you looking to become a trainer, breeder, or coordinator? Also, do you have a specific Pok?mon that you're interested in as a beginner?"
The Lucario sucked in a breath, not having taken one since he began talking. He was sure the young man could easily see through his cheerful façade. But perhaps the person standing before him understood - it was no easy task, taking care of an entire lab. Jacques didn't mean any offense to anyone, he just wanted to get through with this. He did have a nap to take, after all.

He waited patiently outside the front door, wondering who would be the one to answer it. Would it be the professor himself, or one of his Pokémon? Kahale couldn't recall who it had been last time he'd journeyed to the laboratory. Not that it mattered much, he supposed.
The opening of the door prompted Kahale to stand up taller and greet the individual with a smile on his face. But he barely managed a grin before the jackal-like Pokémon launched into the standard introduction. "Oh, uh, I.." It was all so sudden - it took the young man a moment to process all of the words that had just flown out of the Lucario's mouth. "Uh, pleased to meet you, I'm Kahale. Ah...yes, I'm here for a Pokémon. And I'd like to pursue the path of trainer, if that's alright,
[/b]" he replied, stepping over the threshold and into the lab. The Lucario shut the door behind him, still awaiting an answer regarding the type of beginner he was interested in. Unfortunately, Kahale hadn't given it much thought. Should he choose the randomize option, like he had done the very first time he'd visited? No, he didn't want to go that route again. From what he'd heard from some of the other teenagers on the ferry, the lab was now stocking Poison-types, the male version of the Nidoran being among those choices. That would be interesting, as he found Nidoking to be absolutely awesome creatures. ...But there was also the possibility of choosing the same beginner Pokémon his brother had so many years ago. If he truly wanted to follow in his elder sibling's footsteps, than that was the way to go. " I've decided on a Pokémon. If it's not any problem, I'd like to see the Torchic," Kahale announced, a large grin stretching across his face. [/blockquote][/blockquote]

"..Hm? Oh, yes, it's quite lovely to make your acquaintance as well.." Jacques replied, his tone monotonous. "Please wait here for a second, I'll be back with your trainer kit and beginner in just a few moments." The Lucario was clearly in no mood to socialize. He was growing increasingly upset at the fact that he was the one having to do all the work! He cast a dirty glance towards the rug on which the Garchomp was laying. A trail of drool was steadily dripping out of his open mouth. Ugh, nasty. It was like a faucet.. A small spasm shook his thin frame, a disgusted look invading his facial features.
Disappearing into the back room, Jacques went about locating a trainer kit for his guest. Once that was found, he proceeded to round up two Torchic - one male, one female. Herding them gently back out into the lobby, he presented the Fire-types to Kahale. "Here is your trainer kit...and the beginners you requested. Take a moment to decide on which one you'll choose." Jacques nodded, forcing what was meant to be a kind smile. Excusing himself, he made his way over to one corner of the room, where he could observe silently from the sidelines. It was too distracting to both the Pokémon and the trainer if he was standing there. The young Torchic needed an unbiased opportunity to get to know their potential owner.

Kahale got the feeling that the Lucario didn't care for idle chit chat. He was by no means offended - the laboratory must get a lot of traffic coming through on a daily basis. The young man understood that the Pok?mon aide must've been tired, especially if he had to deal with a plethora of diverse people. "Oh, sure. Thanks!
[/b]" Kahale replied, offering Jacques a small grin. He waited patiently in the lobby as the Lucario retrieved his items. He expected the Pok?mon to be gone for a little while, but he'd barely had any time to re-tie his shoe before the aide returned. " Oh..ah! ..Thank you very much.[/b]" Kahale pushed himself out of his kneeling position, then took the small pouch containing his items from Jacques. Glancing down, he noticed to small shapes standing behind the jackal. " Hey there. I'm Kahale, it's very nice to meet the both of you~[/b]" he greeted the two Torchic. Figuring it would be easier to interact with the Fire-types if he was on their level, Kahale squatted down. The male of the pair was much more courageous, and had no problem in approaching the foreign youth. He regarded Kahale with curious eyes, walking circles around him in order to get a better look at his potential trainer. Apparently he found the boy to his liking. Nuzzling up against the young man's hand, he chirped happily. The female, on the other hand, was not so brave. She hung back, not displaying any interest in getting to know the dark-skinned man. Kahale, having noticed this, made his decision immediately. " I think I'm going to choose this little guy~[/b]" he said, turning his head in order to acknowledge Jacques. - + - " Very well.[/b]" Jacques nodded, then proceeded to escort the remaining Torchic back to her pen. When he returned, he handed Kahale his beginner's Poké Ball. Mentally, he went over his checklist, wondering if he missed something along the way. When he could think of none, he posed the final question to his guest. " Now, I believe you have everything you need to successfully make it through the first route. Do you have any questions before you head out?" [ event ! ] Kahale receives his beginner - a Torchic!name - -- gender - male level - 5 ability - blaze attacks -scratch growl - + - Kahale took a minute to ponder over Jacques' query. " No, I'm good, actually. I just want to thank you for helping me out today. I really appreciate it," he responded, nodding gratefully. He turned, then made his way back to the front door. Pushing it open, he paused briefly in order to give the Lucario with one final parting wave. With his new Torchic in tow, Kahale stepped out into the sun, letting the door close behind them. He couldn't wait to introduce his new teammate to Atticus. [/blockquote][/blockquote]
