Basically, you must've noticed a few of the Other Areas have been completely done away with because Alli and I deemed them absolutely useless. Now, since you all probably want the opportunities for your characters to get out there and train up their Pokémon to be monstrous little motherfuckers, here's a thread to suggest what you'd like to see as far as Other Areas go.
Meaning.
If you have an idea and description for an Other Area, post it here, 'cause it just might be amazing enough to be made into an actual board. We'd also like ideas as far as renaming the Pineallee Ski Lodge and Lakevalley Health Spa are concerned.
But anyway. Thought I'd throw this out there so you guys have something to do while you wait on my sorry ass to reply to the Yule thread.
I'LL GET THAT REPLY IN THIS WEEK, I SWEAR TO FUCKING GOD.
/endrant.

Wow, Near's actually posting something! -/shot- Anyway.
I got this idea from Pokémon Anrui, so I'm not claiming it as something original of mine ▬ honestly, I very rarely come up with something original, and it's a miracle if any of my ideas are even viable.
What do you guys think of an Other Area where only a trainer's STORAGED Pokémon can be used?
I was inspired by the Virtual Reality other area on Anrui. In that area, trainers are allowed to use only the Pokémon in the storage section of their PCs; thus, no main team critters allowed. I like this idea, because I'm sure I'm not the only person out there who hates swapping team members out for weaklings, and sometimes, the day care is just not an option, especially if you loathe the idea of wasting money on raising Pokémon.
I'd like feedback on this idea.

I really like the sound of that, actually. I know that once I get attached to a Pok?mon, I don't like swapping them out for someone new, as much as I like my new Pok?mon... and my poor storage buddies are so underused. I also think it would be fun to allow some of the NPCs we've created access to this area, perhaps with our storage Pok?mon. 'cause I'd totally love to roleplay Jamie while leveling up some of my other Pok?mon.

Yeah, makes sense. It'd be the best way to actually diversify the interaction among someone's entire group of Pok?mon. 'Cause it's more than likely people are just going to stick to their main six. And because, I believe, the day care ended up being the cheapest way of raising Pok?mon without lifting a finger.
Ruins the fun and effort in things.
Anyway, I vote 'yes' on this proposition.

I think Lara's onto something, here.This would definitely give some diversity to roleplay, and I really like the idea of letting members' NPCs in to train storaged critters. We can work on this idea, definitely. Alli said she personally wouldn't use this option, because obviously the daycare isn't all that expensive, but. I think we could try it out and see what happens, it's worth a shot, no matter how useless it might seem. xD;
Buuut. I think it'd be alright. (:

@letting NPCs use storage Pok?mon.
Horrible idea. No offense, but just think for a second.
Your NPCs are not your characters. They are still NPCs, you are just the only one able to play them when they have a role to be played. They are like little extras that you can use if you need a break--because I do want something where people can use their NPCs only.
Your character's Pok?mon are THEIR OWN. Not some random other PERSON'S, because your character owns them. The NPC doesn't.
Basically: completely unrealistic and makes absolutely ZERO sense. I vote absolutely not.
There are alternatives to daycare; taking the time to hand-raise it in other areas or routes--it'd be the same thing, people just can't typically be assed to edit their PC coding because it's annoying. That's why I personally never bother. That's just me. There will also be the service available in Duinsmoor; if you didn't already know, I worked a bit on that, check it out. Though nothing new since the last time I played around with things.
We could always just do away with the daycare center entirely. But personally I hate that idea because so many people love it, and because I'd be broke without it. xD' -/would just buy rare candies-
I think: 1. If you aren't going to use them as a main team ever, just don't have them, or don't complain. 2. If you ARE going to diversify and mix up your team, just don't complain. We already have SO MANY ways--rare candies, daycare, Duinsmoor service, and regular old training. You CAN train Pok?mon in other areas, you know. 3. If you aren't ever going to use storage Pok?mon, don't have any. Repeat of #1. Just don't. Because there's no use other than to say "Oh, look what I have. :D"
I'm just wording myself into circles now so I'll stop, I'm sure I've made my point. Probably ranting because of my mood right now. Not depressed or angry so much as... disconnected. From Kairuu, really--I was just thinking of saying something about it. Mhr. -/rattles brain-

Hm. Interesting idea, although I am a little bit conflicted in my opinion.
Although I do think the idea of an area where only Pok?mon kept in storage can be used, because it allows people to train their other Pok?mon without being bothered to switch up their main team. Plus, it is a nice alternative to just sticking a few level one Pok?mon in daycare for a week.
Buuut, I also agree with Alli on some points. I don't like the idea of using the NPCs. As Alli pointed out, the Pok?mon belong to your actual character(s), not your NPC. NPCs have no use outside of whatever small role they're being used in at the time.
So, ultimately, I do support the idea of a Virtual Reality area, but not the idea of using NPCs.

Okay, I definitely want to apologize for how rude I probably sounded in my previous post. I was a little bitchy. xD' I definitely didn't mean to offend anyone and I am extremely sorry if I did. Lara. To you especially, since it was your idea, and I'm a dumbass for being so stupid as to be rude.
Anyway, back on topic.
I always thought Anrui's "virtual reality" was a nifty thing, though I think we're getting too many ideas from them, but this could probably slide if we do it in our own way.
Something similar might work. But instead of entirely virtual, how about each "zone", as they are on Anrui, are actually represented by the other regions of the Pok?mon world? Kanto Region, Johto Region, Hoenn Region, and Sinnoh Region. It's all virtual and obviously digital, but through the virtual world, trainers could earn digital versions of other regional badges from gym leaders, perhaps even face off against a region's elite 4 if they earn the right. Trainers wouldn't have the choice to take routes, they'd just visit the cities in order.
Maybe. Just a random idea that came to me.
But along the lines of Pok?mon to be used. Since it's virtual, the Pok?mon used could perhaps be chosen from both current party and PC.
Maybe, instead of a "virtual reality", it's a video game. You can play it on your Pok?dex; you can download expansions such as new towns/gym leaders and "extra zones" (more like Anrui's) from various areas. Some places in Kairuu could even offer promotionals for rare/super-special areas that only they can give away. Perhaps it'd even be possible to build one's own area.

Don't worry about it, Alli. It just shows that you really don't like the idea, and I understand where you're coming from with the idea that our Pok?mon are ours, not a NPC's, but my thoughts towards that leaned kind of to a "Professor Oak" sort of thing. Professor Oak might not have trained the Pok?mon that he kept in storage, but he did let them out and befriend them, and all that. It's just one step further, at the permission of the trainer, to allow Pok?mon to be trained on the side, no different from the day care if you ask me.
But I do understand where you're coming from, and I can agree with the argument enough to not press the matter. Really, it was just a way for me to be able to use Jamie more often - a bit selfish, I know - without making him a full character, since his background doesn't quite allow for it just yet, and I don't know if I could handle him as a real character without testing the waters first.
Alli - The virtual reality thing could be very interesting when it comes to training, but it seems to be more of an on-your-own thing. So maybe it could be a way to train entirely on your own, especially in Kairuu's down time, when other people aren't really posting due to busy lives and such? I know that the side-areas are kind of already like that, but this could be fun, too, and wouldn't have to prompt actually swapping party members out.

Eh. I see what you mean, but professors do train their Pok?mon, or else have assistants train them. Assistants actually know the professors. Unless the NPC knows the trainer than it wouldn't make sense. Besides, in the end, it all requires modding--and one person could just as easily do it elsewhere.
As for training on your own, I don't know how I feel about it. On one hand it's a good point that even some individual activity is better than none; but on another it's not really productive, and people really should try to RP with each other rather than do things on their own.
I trust everyone enough that something like that could work, but only because I know you all wouldn't do something as stupid as cheat with levels. I do not, however, trust that future members may not do that; while I may trust some, I certainly won't trust them all, because I don't know them all. So any sort of thing where the member does it on their own really doesn't work unless you can...
Perhaps something like that could be made available to members that Jen, Jazz, and I feel we can trust very well and have known for good while? No 'x amount of badges' or 'x amount of months since join date', but just based on our opinion? If we do some sort of Virtual Reality we could make it in there; otherwise we could figure something out. Where you just RP with other members allowed in the area (off course, we three could, but there would be more than one member admitted right away I think) and do things on your own without the need for mods. Maybe. I don't know.
Also, the more I think about it, the less I like the idea of a virtual reality version that goes back to other regions. But I dislike using the same thing as Anrui and simply having sections like 'Valcano Zone' or something like that.
Also, we still really need to figure out what we're going to do for contests. We've had tons of ideas before and none seem to really work. Jen likes Anrui's contest method but I really, REALLY hate using other peoples' ideas, especially for MAJOR things like that, so... yeah. It can't be complicated. The main problem we run in with is judging; if it has to be judged, people won't want to have others annoyed at them if they judge low scores.
Perhaps if we do have judging, we do it anonymously? Different contests would have a different number of judges, but who is actually judging is a secret; the judges would send in their scores for that particular contest entry through PM to the officiating mod [whichever mod is deemed to handle entries in that area, maybe] and the scores would simply be posted as: Judge 1: 5.6/10 Judge 2: 3.3/10 Judge 3: 10/10 And so forth. No names.

Although I'm just a newbie, I just want to say that I like the idea of a video game. (: Let's say it's called ... I dunno, Digiworlds, there could be a 'Digiworlds' board on Other Places and people could make a thread where their character starts to play the game, and then everything continues from there. (: Just an idea. [/blockquote][/color]

Yeah, I'm actually sort of slowly trying to work on some sort of virtual game, some MMORPG-like system. I'm no where near smart enough to program my own, or I'd make Kairuu into an actual Pok?mon game. *w*;; (I've... thought about it. DX but I'm limited to HTML and CSS, lulz).
I'm trying to figure out ways to do it. I've got a few ideas running around in my little overactive brain, but none of them have formed anything concrete yet. x3
