So I was just sitting here, thinking about the breeding system and how I hate trying to think of ways to make it cool and shit.
Then I figured, "Fuck the breeding system. Why does everyone have to have one?"
Then I thought, "But everyone likes being able to do this, it's a good thing for people to be able to exchange eggs and Pokémon while keeping their own copies..."
So I figured, "... Fuck breeding. Cloning fershiz D:<"
So this is my proposal, but I want you guys to tell me what you think.
Instead of having a breeding system, I'll make some sort of feature or thing that just clones your Pokémon.
Different things would cost different prices, like:
DNA Clone for an Egg: 10k per egg DNA Clone for a Pok?mon: 20k per Pokémon Choose Gender: +5k Have an Egg Move: +3k Choose own Egg Move: +10k Make it Shiny: +60k
You'd be limited to 1 visit per character per week, but meh.
Now the only thing is there'd be no randomized breedings any longer. What I can do, instead, is have a whole "DNA/Gene Cooperation" that does all this stuff, and have them have something like being able to request a random egg for a price, or something. I have an idea in my mind, but I'll keep it to myself for now. x3
So. Uh. What do you guys think?

O: I really like this idea, Alli. It's different that just a plain old breeding system. I also like the idea of being able to purchase those 'extras', so to speak. Like being able to choose gender or whether or not you want the Pok?mon to be shiny or not. It allows for a lot more options.
I did notice that you can clone for an egg or for a Pok?mon. Does that mean that the resulting Pok?mon will be the same level as the original, or does it start out at a specific level? Also, I'm assuming because it's a clone/egg, that it knows all of the moves that the original knows?

I'm not really sure. I'm thinking of having two options:
DNA Clone for Pok?mon would just be cloning it's DNA, resulting in a level 1 first-stage version of that Pok?mon; it would inherit any egg moves, but it would NOT be an exact clone. That'd be the cheaper option.
DNA Actual Pok?mon could be a second possible option that will completely duplicate the Pok?mon you have; what level it is, what moves it has, all of that, except personality may be different, and you can't alter anything. That'd be extremely expensive, probably something like 300k per Pok?mon. I wouldn't want people overusing this, after all. I may not even offer the above option. It sounds cool, yeah, but I don't know if it's wise to even offer such a feat at all. x3
Perhaps cloning specific traits could work. Like: Clone Level Data: +50k Clone Egg Moves: +15k
But cloning the moveset wouldn't work since certain moves must be learned according to level.

Yeah, that sounds like a good idea. As far as cloning for a level one copy of your original Pok?mon. And like you said, cloning movesets wouldn't work, because of levels and such, but I'm sure that being able to clone exclusively for egg moves wouldn't be that big of a problem.
So perhaps having an option for general cloning - the level one first stage clone, as well as being able to clone specifically for certain traits (like level, for instance), would be possible.
Also, regarding the complete duplicate option. Maybe it should be a one use per member type deal. I wouldn't suggest allowing a per character thing, if we're even considering this option at all, because I can foresee people creating five or so characters just to abuse this option. So people would have to think long and hard about which of their Pok?mon they'd like to clone. And of course, it would be a rather expensive option. 300k, or whatnot, like you said. And obviously, if we did decide to do this, we'd probably have to limit what species of Pok?mon can be cloned.
For example, red-listers, legendaries, and maybe even the starter Pok?mon and their evolutions should be off-limits, as well as the various Eons. We don't want people exploiting the system, after all.

Yeah. I think I'll go type up in the staff board how I'll have it as a new thread so we can discuss changes and stuff as well as what it'll have, that way I can actually see how I'll have it typed up and stuff.
Most of what you said sounds about right, though. I don't think I want cloning exactly for the same thing or level-cloning; even if 300k is a bit expensive for most people, it's not so hard to get, especially with being allowed to post in the spam board, especially with how many games there are--which is mostly my fault. I just don't like the idea of having the option, really.
