FULL NAME!
Tristan Duane Rowena.NICKNAMES!
He doesn’t mind nicknames in general, be they descriptive or variations of his real name. One that he gets often and likes fairly well is “Triste.”SEX!
AGE!Yes, please!Male.
Seventeen.DATE OF BIRTH!
November 21st, 1991.PLACE OF BIRTH!
Cape Elmhill, Kairuu Region.ETHNICITY!
About half Irish, one-fourth English, and one-fourth Welsh. He doesn’t have an accent, though, which makes it pretty tough to tell until you meet his parents, who both have thick accents.SEXUAL ORIENTATION!
Tristan is at that awkward teenage stage in which he’s not quite sure of his own sexual preference. Though he’s pretty positive that he isn’t gay (he can certainly appreciate a hot chick when he sees one), he’s a bit curious as to whether or not he could potentially like-like a guy, or even be sexually attracted to someone of the same sex. He’s adventurous and willing to experiment, in any case.FAMILY!
x Mother; Bree Rowena, age forty-eight.AMBITION!
x Father; Merle Rowena, age fifty.
x Brother; Hale Rowena, age twenty-two.
x Brother; Max Rowena, age thirteen.
Trainer! Triste wants to be the very best, to catch ‘em all. Sure, it may not be the most original of goals, and he’ll have plenty of competition, but that won’t stop him from trying! If it doesn’t work out, then becoming a pro skateboarder would be the next best thing. Failing that, he could try to join – or start – a band. Hey, how why not become a guitar-playing pro trainer-skater? Wicked.
APPEARANCE!
Tristan is not exceptionally good-looking. He isn't supermodel or movie-star material, that's for sure. But Triste has a sort of confidence, a certain swagger to his step and glint in his eyes, that makes him seem perhaps a bit more attractive than he is. He has a sort of square jaw and his thin lips are usually parted in a lopsided, cheery grin that shows off most of his teeth -- slightly crooked, but nothing too bad, and hell if he's getting braces. His nose isn't as beaky as Hale's, but has a more round shape to it, almost Roman but with too much of a curve for that. Thick, dark eyebrows and muddy-brown eyes, often wide with caffeine or sheer, natural excitement and energy, are partially hidden by a thick, messy mop of mousy-brown hair, which nearly reaches his shoulders in the back.
His face is nothing special or spectacular. Okay, he can admit that. But his body is what he's really proud of, because fuck, he worked to have his muscles toned like this, and he got his tan from running around in the sun every day. Tristan is an active kid, and he does more than just skateboard; he surfs and swims, dabbles in soccer, and occasionally visits the gym to lift some weights (though never anything too heavy) so that he doesn't get scrawny. You know, just in case. As a result, he's built pretty well, and his tall frame, easily the sort that would be lanky and gawky if he didn't put forth the effort to gain muscle mass, is bulked up slightly by lean muscle. His skin has tanned nicely from all of the sun exposure he gets, and though his legs are slightly paler from the knees-up (he isn't the sort to wear shorts any shorter than knee-length), his whole torso is pretty evenly-tanned, as he likes to remove his shirt and show off for the ladies while he plays his sports. No farmer's tan for him!
When he does decide to be fully-clothed, however, he favors comfort and practicality over style, typically, though looking good and being dressed right for boarding at the same time is nice. His shirts are always a little loose, nothing too form-fitting and restricting, even if it (regrettably) hides his hard-earned body a bit. When it's cold, he'll use layers to keep himself warm, either a long-sleeved shirt underneath his tees or a hoodie over top. Most of his tops are either band shirts or decorated by logos (often for skating brands, but sometimes for other things, as well), though sometimes simple patterns, like stripes, are fine. For bottoms, he tends to favor knee-length shorts (baggy and riding low on his hips, barely held up by a thick, colorful, and probably mismatching belt) or slim-fit jeans that stretch and so aren't restricting, but aren't nearly baggy enough to get in the way while running around or skating, either. The most important part of his outfits, as far as Tristan is concerned, is always his shoes; he has a couple of different pairs, one being a pair of black-and-white Etnies, the other being a pair of gray, green, and brown Element high-tops. They're both shoes made to hold up against the wear-and-tear of skating, and though they're bound to get torn up eventually, normal shoes would do so faster than these.
Tristan is the type to run, not walk, everywhere he goes, but on those rare occasions that you can catch him strolling by at an easy pace, his aforementioned confidence is obvious in the way he moves. His posture is good, and he walks with his head high and shoulders forward, his steps deliberate and strong. He's obviously self-assured, and on top of that, he seems to be a pretty fun guy just at a glance; he's quick to grin and make some wild, comical gesture that implies good humor. All-in-all, he fits the bill of a "cool" skater kid, the type of guy that would have plenty of friends and the interest of plenty of girls willing to be more than friends. That would be about right.
PERSONALITY!
Hoooo, man. Let’s just start by saying that Hale’s high stress levels are in great part thanks to Tristan. This kid is your typical wild, rambunctious, thrill-seeking, fun-loving, stupid teenage boy. He's the sort to rush into potentially-dangerous or probably-illegal situations simply because he thinks that "it'll be fun!" Hasty, irresponsible, sometimes illogical, and cursed, it seems, with the attention span of a gnat, it's hard to keep up with all of the crazy shit that Triste does, mostly due to how quickly he does it; he'll zoom around until he finds something amusing, then zoom off again once he grows bored, and repeat this for an entire day until he eventually crashes and needs some sleep.
You're not likely to see Tristan moving slowly or idling around in most situations. He'll either be darting about in search of something to do, or he'll be doing it. At least he's fun to be around; there'll never be a dull moment with Triste, and he's always quick to crack a joke, laugh, and horse around with his buddies. You'd be hard-pressed to stay in a foul mood around him -- at least, if he had anything to say about it. He hates seeing others (especially those he cares for) upset or angry, and so will always try to lighten the mood and cheer everyone up when he sees his friends unhappy. As one might imagine, he's not the type to get down-in-the-dumps, himself. Sure, he certainly has the ability to get enraged or mopey, but when he falls into an emotional slump, he's usually quick to recover. No sense being pissed and emo about shit when you could be enjoying life, right?
Well, that's fine and dandy. Unfortunately, however, some situations demand more maturity and responsibility, and when these situations arise, Tristan's ever-present grin and carefree attitude tend to falter. When things take a turn for the worst and can't be fixed by a few wisecracks and a laugh, when it comes time to face the consequences for all that shit you did last night, and when you realize that you haven't yet kept a girlfriend for more than a month at a time because you just get so damn bored with them... when this happens, Tristan's confidence slips and he's forced to grudgingly and awkwardly admit that, okay, he can be kind of an idiot. Kind of a big idiot. He knows, deep down, that he'll have to grow up and start to get serious sooner or later. He just doesn't want to think about it yet. Stressing over his future, tying himself down to something... bleh. What a drag, y'know?
Issues with commitment and responsibility mean that Tristan will have a particularly jarring transition from adolescence to adulthood. He simply has trouble keeping his attention on one thing for too long, making constancy (at least with hobbies and such) difficult, and he would rather be a kid, playing around and not having to worry about anything, than grow up and get a job and worry about everything. For someone who's nearly eighteen years old, that isn't good. This "Pok?mon journey" thing will give him some extra time to fool about and hopefully mature a bit, but the chances of him being such a successful trainer that he won't have to actually get a job and a settled-down life sooner-or-later are not very high.
For now, though, he'll ignore what he imagines could only be a dreary, dismal adult life. He'll travel around with his brother in tow, and Hale, pulling his hair out and nagging him about everything, will try to keep him from killing himself with anything stupid. Tristan will laugh and call him a prude or a worrywart or a stick-in-the-mud, and he'll find parties to attend, people to hang out with, new songs for his guitar, new illegally-obtained drinks to get piss-drunk off of, and new dumbass stunts to pull. For now, he'll be a kid, and he won't necessarily be a bad kid; he won't mean harm with the ridiculous things he does, even if harm is indeed what winds up being caused by his antics. He just wants to have a little more time without worries, before he turns into Hale, stressed-out and seemingly incapable of having fun. Growing up will come later.
